Current Events

Since I have no idea on what significant personal info I may post about, perhaps it's time to stop being self-centered and instead blab about the national occurrences, which have caught my attention because they are disturbing.

First stop, Manny Pacquiao! Yes, he has uplifted the Filipino people. And the response to him was overwhelming - cornily overwhelming! For the love of God! From the minute I learned that he has this "Para Sayo" music video up to this very moment, I have been lambasting him in my mind and to my friends. How corny can he and his fanatical supporters get?

Before the fight, it's like he was about to die in the hands, or more like the fists of Eric Morales. *glancing at the TV* My God! Look at that! Jen Bautista, the singer who frenziedly sang the National Anthem before the fight, is on TV right now singing the same. And now... *looking at the TV* ...shit! There's Manny! He's a guest in Magandang Umaga Pilipinas right now. I'm gonna watch the TV first and look for something to lash about him.

*watching TV*

*puking* The background music was actually Manny's "Para Sayo" novelty song! Manny at least looked cleaner, but he's as ugly as ever! He was asked to confirm his rematch with Eric Morales. He said that Morales' team are saying that they agree with a third match. But Manny assumed that they were just announcing this to show that they are not afraid, and that in truth, Morales was now intimidated. He mentioned furthermore that the third match would be a 132-pound category. Manny again presupposed that Morales' team increased the required weight, and said that it would be a "trap" for him, which meant that he would most likely be defeated. What an ego!

And there's more. One host asked if the rumors about him having a child with another woman. Manny replied that if the alleged child was proven to be his, then he would not hesitate to support him/her. What the hell does that mean?! He just implied that there is possibility that he impregnated another woman! God! That may mean he's careless in keeping secrets or he's just plain stupid in answering showbiz questions. Enough about him!

Another event that shocked the whole nation was the stampede outside the Ultra Stadium, where the first anniversary of Wowowee was supposed to be celebrated. 76 were confirmed dead in the tragedy, most of them are elderly women.

The show promised big prizes that obviously drew more people to join the contests in the show. The people have been camping outside the arena for about two days. I saw a woman interviewed on TV that people refused to leave their places because somebody would definitely take their spots. So if someone wanted to pee, he/she should have somebody or something to conceal him/her so that he/she may not be seen while peeing on the ground! Just a while ago, I saw the DILG Undersecretary on TV commented that Wowowee was like "throwing a piece of meat to a pack of wolves." After announcing the findings of the investigations on the stampede, he expressed his own opinion that ABS-CBN treated these people like animals. The network just expressed that they were dismayed and hurt at this.

Personally, the people waiting under the sun's heat were not treated like animals. Actually, they made themselves animals, peeing on the ground, forgetting about basic human hygiene.

On the issue of who's liable, ABS-CBN has been declared responsible for the control of such an event with massive crowds. But there was one person, whom I saw interviewed on TV again, blamed the corrupt government for all of this. He said that if Gloria was able to address the poverty in the country, there might have been no huge number of people struggling to get into Ultra just to get the slim chance of being chosen as contestants, let alone winning the prizes.
